The annual Fête de la Science (Science Festival) is the ideal event for promoting scientific research and its various professions. As a health agency with eleven research and reference laboratories, ANSES participates fully in this festival, giving the public a special insight into the work of its scientists and their passion for science devoted to health and safety. Various events will thus be on offer all over France from 6 to 15 October 2017, enabling the population to discover or rediscover ANSES's expertise and research activities.
The Fête de la Science is organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and aims to promote science to the public and schools over a ten-day period.
As a health agency, ANSES’s core activity is health risk assessment with a view to informing public policy-making. This is based on the deployment of independent, pluralistic scientific expertise. It also relies on the work of the Agency's eleven research and reference laboratories, located throughout France near the related production sectors, and recognised at international level.
More than 1000 scientists in the Agency's laboratories and assessment departments, along with 850 external experts, work to further the knowledge that is essential for better anticipating and managing risks in the areas of human, animal and plant health, and food safety. There is strong societal demand in these different fields. ANSES shares its results, making them as widely accessible as possible. The annual Fête de la Science therefore provides a valuable opportunity for the public to interact and exchange with the players involved in research and reference.
Fun, educational activities, lectures, open days… The programme prepared by ANSES for this 26th edition of the Fête de la Science, which will start on 6 October, highlights the different scientific careers at the Agency. This year once again, scientists from the eleven laboratories and the French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products will be presenting their work and aiming to stimulate the curiosity of visitors of all ages.
Three days of Live Science at La Villette
To inaugurate this 26th edition of the Fête de la Science, sixteen research institutions are joining forces with Esprit Sorcier and the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, to bring the "Live Science" event to life.
Presented by Frédéric Courant, this entertaining educational event will give visitors the chance to meet ANSES scientists, and discuss matters such as good hygiene practices, and how to avoid tick bites.
From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 October, live experiments, presentation of mystery objects, meetings and debates between scientists, and much more, will be broadcast live on Esprit Sorcier's YouTube channel.
