Alongside the Board of Administrators and its thematic steering committees, the ANSES Scientific Board is the third body contributing to the Agency’s governance. The Scientific Board is totally independent and formed exclusively of scientists, of which one quarter are foreign experts, and ensures the impartiality and high scientific standards of ANSES’s expert appraisals. It participates in the selection of experts, the examination of public declarations of interest, the implementation of expert appraisals, the assessment of laboratory activities and the Agency’s research.

Every three years, the scientific council of the Agency’s Scientific Board is renewed, with its members being chosen from among leading scientists in ANSES’s sphere of competence. To this end, ANSES has today issued a public call for applications.

The Agency seeks a range of competences for its Scientific Board: physicians, pharmacists, veterinarians, biologists, agricultural engineers, physicists, chemists, hygiene specialists, toxicologists, epidemiologists, sociologists, economists, etc.

In particular, the Agency seeks candidates with professional experience in line with its many areas of expertise: research to support public policy-making, collective expert appraisal in the field of public health, definition and forward planning of its scientific strategy, assessment of research teams and programmes, participation in surveillance, vigilance and alert systems, epidemiology (descriptive and analytic), the implementation of epidemiological studies and data analysis, research into the communication and perception of risk, and scientific and technical reference and expert appraisal in the fields of food safety, animal health, etc.

This call for applications will remain open until 15 July 2013. Once renewed, the Scientific Board will start work in the last quarter of 2013.
