ANSES renews its Scientific Board

The ANSES Scientific Board, which is independent and made up exclusively of scientists, of whom more than a quarter are foreign experts, guarantees the scientific quality and independence of its expert appraisals. The Scientific Board is renewed every three years and its members are chosen from well-known, authoritative scientists working in ANSES's fields of intervention. The Agency is thus launching a public call for candidates which is open until 16 May 2016.
Public call for application extended until 15 June
Alongside the Board of Administrators and the five thematic steering committees, the Scientific Board is one of the ANSES governance bodies; it is independent and made up exclusively of French and foreign scientists. It guarantees the scientific quality and independence of the Agency's expert appraisals. Its most important assignments are to validate the Agency's scientific orientations, to supervise the assessment of scientific research and to validate the selection of experts serving on the expert committees set up by ANSES.
The Scientific Board is renewed every three years. As part of its new mandate for the period 2016 to 2019, ANSES is today announcing a public call for candidates.
ANSES intervenes in a range of different fields: human food and nutrition, environmental health, occupational health, the health and welfare of animals, animal feed, veterinary medicinal drugs and the health and protection of plants. For this renewal of the Scientific Board, the Agency is looking in particular for scientific knowledge and skills in medicine, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine, biology, agronomy, physics, chemistry, hygiene, toxicology, ecotoxicology, statistics, epidemiology, sociology and economics.
Furthermore, the Agency is looking in particular for candidates with professional experience in:
- research to be used as input for drafting public policy,
- collective expertise and assessment of risks,
- scientific strategy for ANSES, anticipating future needs
- evaluation of research teams or programmes,
- surveillance, vigilance, early warning,
- research on communication and the perception of risk,
- scientific and technical expertise in the Agency's various thematic fields.
The applications should be submitted online no later than 16 May 2016. The work of the renewed Scientific Board will begin in the fourth quarter of 2016.
