The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), a major player in animal health and well-being, will be at the SPACE International Livestock Fair in Rennes from 15 to 18 September. The afternoon of 16 September will be an opportunity for visitors to meet with scientists, on the ANSES stand or during a conference, and discuss the latest advances in animal health and food safety.

This event will once again be an opportunity for ANSES to strengthen its pivotal ties with professionals in the sector (breeders, livestock technicians, veterinarians, technical institutes, research organisations, sector representatives, etc.) and to discuss the most recent work in animal health and food safety, two of ANSES's major work topics.

The activities of its westernmost laboratories, Ploufragan-Plouzané and Fougères, as well as those handled by the French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products, will also be highlighted. These ANSES laboratories are specialised in the study of poultry, pigs and farmed fish, but also have authority in the field of veterinary medicinal products. They contribute both to improving the health and well-being of animals and to a better understanding of the issues involved in health risk prevention.

From 2 to 5 pm on 16 September ANSES also invites stakeholders to conference room 1 of the "Bretagne" area for an afternoon of conferences on the latest innovations in animal health and food safety. The results of recent research work will be presented, including the effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic currents on livestock, and the epidemiology of the hepatits E virus in swine and the risk of human exposure this implies. The French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products will also present its latest recommendations for zinc oxide-based medicinal products. The full programme is available here.

These conferences will be an opportunity for visitors to meet with scientists from the Agency to discuss research applications in farms and ways to improve animal and human health.
