Call for application for a working group "Campylobacter in poultry meat sector"

From 17/10/2016 to 10/12/2016

Anses invites you to participate actively in the food safety and gives you the opportunity to discuss in a group of multidisciplinary scientists.

Campylobacter spp. is the first cause of food zoonosis in France and in Europe with a steady increase in the number of cases over the past fifteen years.

Monitoring plans show a high level of Campylobacter contamination in poultry and poultry products in France. Thirty percent of human campylobacteriosis would be attributed to poultry meat.

To date, France does not have a national control plan for Campylobacter while other member states have implemented control measures for several years.

In this context, Anses is requested by the French General Directorate for Food (DGAL) to assess the risk of human campylobacteriosis and evaluate the impact of possible control measures in the poultry meat sector.

A working group will be set up by Anses and will report to the Expert Committee on "Assessment of risks related to biological hazards in food" (CES Biorisk).

This call for applications, open from 17 october to 10 decembre 2016, aims to proceed to the constitution of the working group "Campylobacter in poultry meat sector." The group will meet approximately every 6 weeks from January to December 2017 and will produce a collective expert report for the end of 2017. Meetings will be held in English.
