Health and environment research: data in the service of public policy
Data collected or generated in the context of scientific research remains underutilised, both for producing new research and for informing public decision-making. This is particularly true in the field of health and the environment.
However, the policy promoting open science encourages wider access to scientific data, as it enhances both the efficiency of research and the quality of the knowledge produced, whilst strengthening public trust in science.
This conference will therefore aim to take stock of the scientific and societal challenges associated with the sharing, reuse and structuring of research data.
It will combine the presentation of research results funded by ADEME, ANR and ANSES with broader perspectives, in order to draw concrete lessons for public policy.
The conference programme will be structured around three themes:
• The diversity of data produced and its evolution over time,
• The case of citizen science data,
• Data as an aid to decision-making.
The day will conclude with a round-table discussion focusing on data-sharing platforms, such as Green Data for Health, in order to exchange views on the challenges to be addressed in terms of system integration and interoperability, and to discuss European prospects.
