Legal Affairs Department

The Legal Affairs Unit is responsible for ensuring the legal conformity of the Agency's activities, by providing legal counselling and advice, and by disseminating the legal provisions applicable to the Agency. It participates in the development of rules and principles, in particular related to ethics, applicable to the Agency's personnel and experts. It monitors litigation, in conjunction with the departments concerned.

It makes its expertise available to the Agency's other services and entities, including in the area of archiving.

The Director of Legal Affairs is the person responsible for access to administrative documents and for questions about the reuse of the Agency's public information. She also acts as the Agency's Ethics Officer.

The Directorof Legal Affairs is the Agency's contact point with the National Commission for Data Protection and Liberties (CNIL) regarding computer data and freedom.
