At the start of this new year, Roger Genet, Director General of ANSES, takes stock of 2017, a year marked by major developments for the Agency, and lays out the priorities for 2018.
"Please accept our very best wishes for this new year, both from myself and on behalf of ANSES's 1400 employees. We hope that 2018 will enable each and every one of you to bring to fruition the projects that are important to you, both personally and professionally, and that it is a year of success and happiness for yourselves, your families and all your loved ones.
Last year, 2017, saw a great deal of discussion, particularly in the framework of the national consultation on the food sector (Etats Généraux de l'Alimentation), as well as controversy, in France and at the European level. Glyphosate, pesticides, endocrine disruptors, nanomaterials and electromagnetic waves are just some of the subjects that regularly recur in the public debate, since they raise questions and fears for our fellow citizens, and are in any case sources of uncertainty.
Because over the years we have always preferred dialogue to posture, we have been able to move forward together, with the overarching aim always being the general interest of society and consumers. This does not mean that we intend to rest on our laurels, because further improvement is always possible, and I hope that the Agency can make even more progress in 2018."
