ANSES renews its cooperation on occupational health with NIOSH

ANSES and the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) in the United States signed a new memorandum of understanding in the field of occupational health, in this beginning of year, after an initial ten-year collaboration.

This agreement aims to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation between ANSES and NIOSH, within the scope of their respective missions, by developing the sharing of knowledge and methodological approaches, especially regarding occupational exposure limits for chemicals.

In the coming years, ANSES and NIOSH plan to develop joint initiatives in risk assessment and research, and exchanges of knowledge and technical know-how. These collaborations could take the form of joint projects, the organisation of exchanges and visits of scientists, or seminars and workshops.

In the United States, the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) is tasked with conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which in turn is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

About ANSES's international collaborations

This agreement between ANSES and NIOSH is fully in line with the Agency's strategy to develop international cooperation. Numerous partnerships have been set up in the form of agreements signed with counterpart institutes outside Europe, including in the United States (NIEHS on environmental health, US FDA on food safety, veterinary drugs and tobacco products), Canada (Health Canada, University of Montreal, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, National Public Health Institute of Quebec – INSPQ) and South Korea (NIFDS on food safety).
