New partnership between ANSES and the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food

On 1 March 2024, ANSES signed its first cooperation partnership agreement with the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH). The two agencies have areas of expertise in common relating to animal and plant health, and food safety.

The agreement was signed by Benoît Vallet, Director General of ANSES, and Darja Sokolić, General Manager of HAPIH. ANSES marked the occasion by inviting its counterpart to its stand at the Paris International Agriculture Show.

The two agencies wish to develop their cooperation initiatives in the areas of health risk assessment and research on their common themes: food safety, animal health, plant health, plant protection products and human nutrition.

They both carry out research and support the public authorities in detecting, managing and assessing health risks. They are also both national focal points for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), acting as interfaces between EFSA and the stakeholders in their respective countries concerned with food-related health risks.

Both agencies also represent their respective countries on EFSA's two governance bodies, the Management Board and the Advisory Forum. Their scientists also take part in numerous technical thematic networks run by EFSA.

These are just some of the areas in which they will be able to exchange views and work together during this partnership, which will run for four years.
